good news or bad news?
Ahhhh... finally ended my presentation on William James and his influence on the study of religion today. Thought Prof Elliot would be unpleased with me choosing such a 'out-of-place' topic for the presentation but turned out he did have his own ideas on the topic as well and the entire session went pretty well, definitely not as stressful and bad as I thought it would be. Oh well, I guess some 'jokes' on my part helped ease the atmosphere a little, which by the way was never intended to be a joke. You see, I came to this part where I talked about how William James used a qualitative method in analysing his collection of personal documents, instead of an empirical analysis which one of his contemporary, ...what's his name..., Starbucks, employed. See the problem with this sentence? That fellow named "Starbucks", which immediately sent a wave of roaring laughter and doubts from the class, "you sure??? Isn't that a coffee chain???" Hahaha... well, who to blame when u have one of the world's largest pop-cultural franchaise as your surname?
Anyway, so feeling more relaxed now and am back home. Supposed to stay in school for another lecture from 5.30 to 8pm (Evaluating Health Claims), but it was cancelled as our lecturer, Dr Matt Whiteman, was hospitalized for severe asthma.
Good news? No lecture for today, no need to stay until 8pm in school, and no need to try and spend 3 hrs in school to in between my Topics in Psych tutorial and Health Claims lecture.
Bad news? Well, a man, whom I assume to be a really nice guy, is now very sick.
Yup, that's the irony of life. I'm actually quite worried for Dr Whiteman especially after receiving the 2nd email from Dr Halliwell that he's "very sick". I guess it's just thinking about how unpleasant it would be feeling horrid and lying on the hospital bed, and how his loved ones might have to cope with such a sudden event. But at the same time, unfortunately, I was actually quietly cheering when the lecture was cancelled. Oops.
Anyway, da jie, YC and myself have decided that we should make our 'family dinner' within this week, eat as much as wecan during the 15 days of CNY and then go on a strict diet. Hahaha.. Still haven't decided on the place and day thou, they wanted Fri but my lecture ends at 7pm on Fri...
It's really amazing that the 3 of us can become so good friends. We knew one another through line-dancing, and although there is like a hugh age gap between me and YC and da jie (like 10 to 20 years difference), we somehow click so well. Amazing... I do have the feeling that going line dancing has trained me to better interact with people senior my age. Hahaha! I know, sounds weird, but really, I seem to have managed to build a rapport with many line dancers who are older than me like 10 yrs or more. But I'm grateful to have da jie and YC as my 'sisters'. Really grateful. Life really is so much more with them ^^.
Ok, back to work. Will have to start on my term papers soon. Time passes too quickly! I've barely gotten into the 'school' mode and I just realized that 2 of my term assignments are due in the beginning of March, which is like only a few weeks from now...
Kampatei!!
