Zorawski and about my nicks
Feeling sleepy after my Abnormal Psych lecture, maybe it's that sudden change in habits like from lazing around at home from 5-7pm to trying to stay alert and pay attention to a serious topic like OCD.... Anyway, my lecturer for this module, Dr Michael Zorawski, is a pretty interesting fellow. Probably cos he's young and new to lecturing, he's kinda unconventional and relaxed in his style of teaching, which obviously translates into something good for us students =P. Unconventional in what way, u say? Well, dunno how to describe, but I guess u could tell something from his looks - long, frizzy blond hair, decked in T-shirt, a loose shirt ouside and baggy pants. U'd mistake him for a student anytime. Oh yes, he's a German but speaks fluent English.
Anyway, wanna to talk a little about my many nicks. As some of u may know by now, I have many nicks. Here's a list of them....
1) P-Chan
My very first nick. Contary to popular belief that 'P' represents 'Pearlyn' and 'Chan' represents my surname (for those who dunno my actual surname, that is..), P-Chan was in fact inspired by a cartoon character from Japanese cartoon Ranma 1/2. It's actually a perverse cartoon about how characters change from human to animal when drenched with cold water and how they transform back when drenched in hot water. Perverse cos there's a little nudity (as with most Jap anime, actually) and a really perverted old man. Heehee.... Anyway, P-Chan is the incarnation of a guy named Ryogo Hibiki, who, like me, has a devastating sense of direction and is pretty much the loser. Cute loser, that is ;) Anyway, when Ryoga gets drenched in cold water he turns into this little black pig P-Chan (meaning 'Little P' in Jap), as named by the female lead in the series, Akane.
Ok, so at a time when the internet was growing and ICQ became the 'in' thing, I was into Jap anime particularly Ranma 1/2. Since P-Chan was my favourite character, and P sort of represented me, I chose 'P-Chan' as my 1st nick! Still in use today, but not often.
2) sasamilee
Also derived from a Jap anime which I watched around the same time as Ranma 1/2, called Tenchi Muyo. 'Sasami' was the name of an adorable and the most sensible little girl in the show. Cute name, so decided to use it for my fisrt email address (with Hotmail). To make it more personalized, I added "lee" to the back of the name, hence the name "sasamilee".
3) Nariel Leralonde
In Elvish, my English name 'Pearlyn' = 'Nariel', while my Chinese name 'Peiling' = 'Leralonde'. Something I found out via online while in my LOTR trilogy faze. But I love 'Nariel' and if I have a daughter in future, I'm gonna name her 'Nariel'.
4) Serendipity
From the movie of the same title, starring one of my favourite actors, John Cusack. Means: The faculty of making fortunate discoveries by accident. (Dictionary.com) No particular personal meaning though, just liked the sound of it =P. Currently my 'staple' MSN nick.
4) Pearl
Yah, pretty obvious how that came about...
Ok ok... mindless rambling, I know. But do expect more of such ramblings to come... BOO!
