One of our pet strays, Blackie, gave birth to a litter of kittens a while ago. But we never got to see them until yesterday, mum and dad said she brought the kittens into the store room and refused to budge thereafter.

Finaly saw the kittens today. Sooooooo adorable!!! One white one with black patches, one totally orange with brown stripes. Beautiful large eyes, perfect features, long tapering tails - very healthy lot... Lovely lovely creatures ^o^. Looks very different from Blackie (which, from the name. is obviously totally black, but with small patches of brown here and there), must have been from the daddy (have a sneaky feeling it's Mao Mao, the orange ones look like him!!) But surprisingly, Blackie allowed us to touch and carry her kittens. She still gets a little nervous when we take the kittens a little too far from her (the kittens themselves get all jittery when we do that too), but other than that she's ok with us. A proud mother now, to think we saw her grow up. Awwww... looking at the kittens straight into their tiny faces sends a wave of warm motherly love thru ya....

Anyway, as I was playing with the kittens, a third one popped up! Awwwww.... looks exactly the same as the other orange one! Except her tail isn't as tapered as the other. Sooo cute!!! Btw, we do believe that the 2 orange ones are females while the white one with patches is male.

We originally wanted to give away these kittens cos too many cats in our house already. But after playing with them, we feel so unwilling to give them up. Mum said then maybe we should give up Xiao Hui and Xiao Bai, the 2 kittens who are more 'senior'. Noooooo!!!! We're too attached to them already!!!

In fact, Xiao Bai is Blackie's younger brother. As for Xiao Hui, we dunno whose kitten that belonged to but when she first appeared in front of our house, the poor thing was sooooo skinny, practically skins and bones! We thought Xiao Hui must have lost her mother... Actually even now as she has put on more weight (u never see skinny cats in our house) and is a very active kitty, she still looks unhealthy, probably cos of her weird body struture which makes her tummy look bloated and her hind legs longer than her fore legs. I have a feeling it's because when she was lost from her mother, she didn't get to suckle which all kittens her age are supposed to, leading to serious malnutrition and a deformed body structure. Of course I may be wrong.... Anyway, luckily Xiao Hui managed to find her way to our house, survived and is now a playmate to Xiao Bai. Hahaha they way Xiao Hui and Xiao Bai play can be very amusing.

Will post up pics of our cats soon, until I manage to collect those pictures ^^. Including the new additions, the "Lee Family Cat Shelter" is currently caring for 10 cats.... Wow.... Let me count... Tiny, Mother Cat 1, Mother Cat 2, Mao Mao, Xiao Bai, Xiao Hui, Blackie and her 3 kittens.... I wanna find a name for them =D!

Hopefully we won't have to give up the kittens. I remember the time we sent another of our cat, Patches, and her kittens (which are actually pretty unhealthy looking, dunno why...) to the SPCA cos it was like now, too many cats to care for, we couldn't handle... It was only after that that we realized that the kittens have most likely been put to sleep cos that's what SPCA does.... And we thought they may at least be put up for adoption... Feel so bad.... =(. Esp cos Patches actually trusted us with herself and her kittens... Feel like we've indirectly caused the death of her kittens...

No more SPCA!!!!!!!!




Actually, we got so many stories about our cats... All the memories - funny ones, sad ones, happy ones, frustrated ones, ones where we dunno whether to laugh or cry... These current 10 cats are not the only one which have live with us. There were many others that came and left.

Time to think of names for the 3 kittens ^^.
