~ Gabriel Garcia Marquez

what a day...

Phew... what a day. If u refer to my earlier post I mentioned having a presentation today. I was looking foward to this presentation cos this was a topic that was very interesting to me and which I had a lot of fun preparing it. So late last night, my group members and I made the last minute changes in our presentation slides until we were satified, then I went to sleep, exhausted and mentally drained.

This morning, everything was as usual. 8am lectures are always a bore... Problem was, once I reached school, I realized I forgot to bring something very very important. In fact, without that, the presentation would be a total flop...

I forgot to bring The Negotiator DVD!

Ok, so I immediately called a cab, which came in 10 minutes. Then we encountered traffic jams after traffic jams, jostled through the maddness of peak hour on the road, and I had to endure the drivers comments and irritating humming (gosh, sounded like a ghost was crying or something). I got home, retrieved the DVD, and again had to go through the same maddness... Then the cab driver decided to take the long way into NUS (couldn't sop him in time) and stopped opposite the central library (meaning I had to cross a wide road). Tried to pay him using NETS but he tried again and again but my card couldn't read. Luckily I had a credit card with me so I paid him, got out of the taxi, ran across the road, up flights of stairs, and finally making it to the lecture room 1 hour later (and poorer by S$20!!!).

Made it in time. The presentations started already, but it was not our group's turn yet (it was our turn next, however). Heng.....

Had alot planned for the presentation to make it interesting, including showing the clip from the DVD where Chris Sabian (Kevin Spacey) first talks to Danny Roman (Sammuel L. Jackson). Wanted to have a quiz after that to ask the audience to identify some of the negotiating techniques that Sabian used. However, due to poor time planning on the part of the lecturer, 5 groups had to present within 2 hours today (originally supposed to be 3 groups, then it was changed to 4. Cos one group didn't finish in time the last week, they presented this week meaning there were 5 groups presenting within 2 hours, around less than 20 minutes each. Is this madness or what??), we didn't manage to have the quiz. Even considered showing an additional clip which showed a bad example of negotiating (for those who have watched the movie before, remember Farley and 'never say "no"'?) but obviously we couldn't. So my presentation part was cut short considerably and all I did was to flash the answers directly with some elaboration. Hope Dr Tan doesn't rate on the presentation by individual group members... =(

Anyway, finally back home. Had lunch, a bowl of yoguart and I'm gonna take a nap. Lack of sleep, too hectic and stressed. Still need to complete my essay for Evaluating Health Claims. I need a rest....

Speaking of my evaluating health claims projecty, anyone have any info on barley grass juice, kelp and brown rice?

Sweet dreams!

Hey gal,

Pei Yin here. Got your blog URL from SN. I like Kevin Spacey too ! He rocks in "American Beauty", and "Pay It Forward". Great Actor. He will be in the upcoming Superman film as Lex Luther. Can't wait to see him play the baddie once more

Hello Pei Yin!! What a surprise! Hee...

Hope u've been well! How's school?

Yup, Kevin Spacey is one of the best actors around. Haven't watched Pay It Foward, though I've read some mixed reviews about it. But I'd like to watch it if there's a chance to (has S'pore TV shown it yet? I dun watch Ch 5 so I dunno...=P), esp since it has Haley Joel Osment in it ^o^.

Pay it Forward is a movie with a very noble idea but the storyline totally sucks. Not much in there and not a very good picture. I thought Kevin Spacey was excellent in The Usual Suspects and that TV series, what was it called? Wise Guys? Or something like that?

But lately he looks weird doesn't he? Especially after the midnight walk in the park with his dog incident. One actor that I can never figure him out and that is good because great actors have layers, and mysterious.

Lex Luther? Interesting. A villain. Ermm who is superman then??

Superman (2006)

I dun recognize the actor who will be playing Superman. Whoever that is, he'll have really big shoes to fill...

Hey Pearl,

Exams suck, but thank goodness it all ended yesterday! :)

I haven caught "The Usual Suspects " yet, but I heard its real good. "Pay it forward" has been shown on Ch 5 twice, I think. The storyline is kinda sappy, but I love Spacey's role as a disfigured guy with a tormented past.

Yeah, I heard abt his funny incident in the park. And there're also many rumours abt his sexual orientation. He's a really private guy.

Lex Luthor used to be Superman's best friend, until he turned into a baddie, according to Smallville. Heh, Yeah, the actor playing Superman is a newbie, and there has been much controversy over the casting of this new film. But at least got Spacey mah, so think the acting should be ok.

My exams will start on the 23rd... X(

I've got the Usual Suspects at home, but something is keeping me from continuing after the first 1/2 hr or so... Probably not my type of movie =P.

But American Beauty rocks! Ha... I love the dialouge in there! Every line is a classic!

Felt it was kinda weird that Spacey would choose to do Superman. But I guess he has his reasons (as Funn said, great actors are mysterious and have layers) and I hope that means that Superman is gonna be worth looking fwd to.

SMILE! You're at Mr Smileys!
