Tom Cruise...
Yup, Mr Tom I'm-oh-so-intelligent Cruise has criticised psychiatry as a psuedo-science. Hear what the APA has to say:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/4629147.stm
"Psychiatry is a pseudo science," he said. "You don't know the history of psychiatry - I do," he added.
Modern psychiatry did start off as a pseudo science, but so did modern medicine and even astronomy. In a world where psychiatric theories, drugs, treatment methods and therapies are scientifically tested (hey, I didn't go through 2 years of studying about research and statistical methods for nothing), need I still go ahead in defending psychiatry as a legitimate science in today's world?
I guess he thinks that phrenology is still being used by psychiatrists today to find out which individuals are born as thieves or rapists.
Yes, Mr Cruise, u probably do know the history of psychiatry. But sadly, u clearly do not know anything beyond that history.
I used to like Tom Cruise, not in the 'idol-worship' sense but as a fairly respectable actor (well, he did make many good movies) who was nice to the media, had no airs about himself and minded his own business. He still is nice to the media, as the papers have talked about lately, but like what the APA said, it was definitely highly irresponsible for him to "use his movie publicity tour to promote his own ideological views."
Ok, I haven't heard the entire interview, and I'm not gonna comment on his ideology (thou frankly, I find it warped...) but this really gives me the impression of Tom Cruise moving into some middle-age crisis or something. I mean, jumping on the couch hysterically and declaring his love was biazzare enough and now this? It's either a cheap publicity stunt or he just needs help. Yes, psychological help.
Speaking of the couch incident, here's one funny website: http://tcruiseko.ytmnd.com/ . Be patient, it takes time to load.

Pearl, he's getting more and more annoying isn't he?
Anyway, I do not know about the history, etc. But I think he made that comment with regards to the usage of drugs to beat depression? Because his religion does not allow it. But I thought scientology is about worshipping science? Not quite sure.
I think he needs some drugs to cool his hyper-I am so in love-declaration for his other half. It's getting more and more fake each day.
yeah...he looks like a sugar daddy to katie holmes....
but IMHO, he's still a hunk....:P
