For the first time yesterday I actually sat down and watched The Matrix in its entirety. Wow, I liked it. I liked it for the fact that it really reminds us of the power and potential of the human mind, and both its creative and destructive powers.

And the stunts, very classic HK style which works really well in the movie. A nice feeling to also actually watch the real "Bullet Time" sequence after watching it as spoofs in various movie and TV shows...

And well, I do love this quote from Agent Smith - I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species. I realized that you're not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You move to an area, and you multiply, and multiply, until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet, you are a plague, and we are the cure.

How ironic. Very sad yet so true. Look at what we are doing to our natural environment, to our fellow human beings... And the best thing about we humans, is that we do not take what we need. We take what we want and will sacrifice others - people, resources etc. just to fulfil that. Not too much to describe ourselves as a virus, isn't it?

Which gets me thinking, I'm really too pessimistic and too cynical for my own good.
