fusion jazz class, and some complaints...

All tired and sweaty after our last fusion jazz lesson. Posted by Picasa

We had our last lesson in fusion jazz last week at Ecnad. Hmmm... miss it, actually. It's tough, no doubt, especially with all the exhausting, painful warm-ups and the danger of getting ur arms and legs all tangled up. But I enjoyed it!

There's our instructor, Vincent (sitting right in front). Wonderful and passionate dancer, full of grace, yet packed with power when he dances (read: great dancer in an un-effeminate way). Hmmm ... describing dance is just not my forte, guess u've just gotta see it for urself. He's a really good instructor as well who truely understand his craft. Oh, errr... and he has a hot bod too... haha! (yes yes, Pearl is after all only human!!!)

Btw, it's not too apparent in this photo but Vincent looks a lot like Ben Yeo, Singapore's own sunshine boy-next-door. Ben's also the guy u're gonna see a lot of once TVB series Yummy Yummy airs in Singapore (in end-Sept, last I heard).

Picture of Ben Yeo taken from TVB Weekly. Wanna see more info on TVB serial Yummy Yummy (in English)?

Speaking of which, I'm tempted to go rent Yummy Yummy. I dun wanna hear it dubbed on TV! Ok, I'm not asking for much, but if only Mediacorp could at least allow it to be shown in dual sound with both the dubbed and undubbed versions... This 'no-dialects' policy is annoying. I wonder if the people up there have even realized that the younger generations have totally lost the ability to speak their own dialects, except for, perhaps, Hokkien vulgarities? How good is that when at the same time they're urging young people to connect with their roots, roots that hardly lie in Beijing where Mandarin comes from.

Sad... entire languages, each beautiful in its own way, are lost in Singapore's youths.
