~ Gabriel Garcia Marquez

and the oscar goes to.....*drum roll*

Ahhh.... what exhilarating results! Ok, the Academy Awards may not be the most credible of all movie awards, but hey, it is still the biggest, most important movie award for 78 years now and it's hard for me not to get excited over the nominations and the results.

Ang Lee won best director for Brokeback Mountain! Yay! A glorious moment for Asians all over the world, even more so for the Chinese! Brokeback Mountain also won for best adapted screenplay and best original score. Frankly, I do think that the soundtrack for Brokeback Mountain is beautiful but I would not expect it to actually win any awards. However, it definitely deserved it's best adapted screenplay award.

But hot favourite Brokeback lost out to Crash in the best motion picture category. Disappointing but I'm not complaining. Crash is another movie which I hope that everyone watches. It's depiction of racial tension was so subtle yet so real, and the way the stories of individuals interlinked made you realize that you did not feel for the plot per se, but simply for the lives of each individual. It opens audiences up to a whole new perspective by urging you to look beyond your own pain, and to recognize that each seemingly unrelated individual who passes you by are all but mere mortals. In this case, character in the movie suffer from racial stereotypes, prejudice and discrimination, yet all handle in different ways that thou small, actually have a great impact on the lives of others around them. Great movie, original yet so meaningful. Absolutely worthy of it's win in the best original screenplay category.

Best actor and best actress? No comments cos I never watched those movies they starred in. Best supporting actor? Never had much impression of George Clooney. Best supporting actress? Ahhhh.... Rachel Weisz. I'm very very happy that she won. Best animated feature film? I guessed it would be Wallace and Gromit actually, so no surprises.

I was shocked, and disgustingly shocked that PIMP song won when Dolly Parton gave such a great performance!

Anyway I belt George Clooney must have been the second happiest recipient since he never thought he could win, right after that pimp songwriters.

By the way I thought the host was hilarious, second to Billy Crystal. Very well done and I was laughing so hard!

By the way the NEwsies soundtrack, may I know which song CB sang? Wanna download them.

Missed watching the Oscars so missed Billy Crystal's performance :(

Ok, songs where CB contributed his voice to in the Newsies OST are:

2) Carrying the Banner
3) Santa Fe
6) The World Will Know
9) King of New York
12) Santa Fe (Reprise)
14) Once and for all
16) Carrying the Banner (Finale) - this one is more instrumental however, only one small part of vocals.

This is the challange - guess which voice belongs to him ;) (apart from Santa Fe, the rest are all choral pieces)

Oh this year is hosted by Jon Stewart, not Billy Crystal. Very good host.

Ermmm I kinda guessed the one with the deeper voice? Because everybody sounded so young, whilst one particular voice was more older sounding. Like the voice in Sante Fe. Was that him?

Santa Fe was sung by CB alone, no other singers were involved in that one.

Check out this site for the 'break-down' of the individual vocals: http://www.lyricsondemand.com/soundtracks/n/newsieslyrics/
CB's character is 'Jack Kelly'.
