Don't kill me but somehow I prefer how the Latin Americans speak Spanish. I may not understand like 99.99% of what Mexican actor Diego Luna is saying in this Amex commercial, but I guess it just sounds nicer... To me, that is. My Spanish Beginner 1 teacher is Latin American too (from Peru, to be exact) and I feel that she has a nice accent too as compared to the teachers from Spain.



Wonder what's up with Diego Luna these days? Haven't actually seen him since Dirty Dancing 2. One of his movies, "Y tu mamá también", is one of those "I-wanna-watch-but-Singapore-is-never-gonna-bring-it-in" movies. And I finally know what that movie title "Y tu mamá también" means after my Beginner 1 course - it means "And Your Mother Too". In itself it is apparently not offensive, but according to the trivia at IMDB, "if you put an offense before it or you answer to an offense with it, it is one of the most offensive phrases in Mexican Spanish".

You should hear Antonio Banderas speak Spanish. Will melt you. And Y tu mamá también is not that great a movie. You can download the torrent you know. For an even more provocative story maybe try Tie Me Up Tie Me Down? What is it with the latinos and Spanish eh? All so porno type movie.

Ok, maybe not as melting as I remember him to be, maybe only in his movies but a few sample and I assume he is speaking spanish because he is speaking so fast!
