Even though it has been 50 years the psychological effects of those times are still strong, an indication of how traumatic this must have been. Yet it is the courage and that leap of faith that these people took to make a difference, to right the wrongs, and to build a path for a better life for generations to come.

There is still much to do in battling discrimination, but they are almost there, I think. At least compared to 50 years ago, what they have achieved by today is actually quite amazing.
