Meet Mithrandir, my new plush teddy.

No particualar reason for buying him. Guess I just wanted something to mark my first bonus from work. Why teddy bear? Well, I figured... No one is ever gonna buy me one, so why not buy it myself?

Got him from Build-a-Bear Workshop, where, and I quote his birth certificate, "I chose it. I stuffed it. I made it my own". The process was not as complex as I wanted it to be (thought I'd get some hands-on workshop or something), but it was fun, nevertheless. The sales assistant who helped me with the stuffing and all even made me hold a stuffed heart, make a wish on it, kissed it and then stuffed the heart into the teddy before she sewed it up.

The bear I chose is called Champ, which has patches all over him which was supposed to represent how some of kids have to wear scars outside of them but are nevertheless strong in the inside. An inspiration for those going through an incredibly rough patch in life.

I admit that when I picked the name Mithrandir, I was in Lord of the Rings fever. So when looking for a costume, I was trying hard to find something on the line of that... But alas, nothing near to it. I did, however find this wizard costume which I have no doubt got it's inpiration from one boy-wizard franchise, more flashy however.

Tempted to get him some 'normal' clothes for Mithrandir also, somewhat like what Blake Lewis would wear (you know the one with that argyle vest and khaki pants... Mmmmm...), but I'd be spending too much on a teddy bear... >.<

Why ermm Mithrandir looks dressed more for Hogwarts than for LOTR? Should he have white cloak with a huge white stick?

Cos I couldn't find the white cloak and a huge white stick for him lor... :(

Hogwarts looked like the closest thing to his name... Heh...

Actually, I was kinad hoping to find an elf costume (as in the LOTR elf, not Harry Potter's elf)But they obviously didn't have anything even close to it except flashy fairy costumes like what a little girl would wear to a fancy dress party...

But Mithrandir is Gandalf!! He must at least have a pointy wizard hat. At least.

Oh hey... that is true!! I didn't realize that Mithrandir is Gandalf!! I mean, didn't read the book so didn't know that the elves called him that... :P

Well, erm, isn't that a pointy wizard hat...?

Sorry. Grey BIG pointy wizard hat. Ermm where then did you find the name Mithrandir if you didn't know it was from LOTR? Do you name your bears?

Ok ok I name by beanie dogs and pig as well. Pig is Babe, one dog is Remus, the other Lupin.

Guilty as charged!

Actually, I used an Elvish name generator that can be found on the internet (http://www.chriswetherell.com/elf/). Threw in random male names I knew and that's how I found the name.

Interestingly, I got Mithrandir after I typed in "Blake Lewis". His name was translated as "Mablung Mithrandír". Thought Mithrandir was a nice sounding name so I decided I wanted my bear to be named as such also...

But frankly, now the more I look at Mitrandir, the more I think about Gandalf and the more I'm thinking, dang! I should find a grey costume with the pointy hat and stick for him!!

Nope, actually I dun have a habit of naming my bears. But cos I know this one has a birth cert so I had some fun finding a name for it.

Maybe I should start naming my bears also... ;)

You know after re-reading your post I realised I did got a dog from that same factory in Debenhams (now closed-that dog was expensive). He was stuffed really fat and I got him a voice box. Did you get one? Mine says I LOOOOOOVE YOu. I was too embarassed to record my own voice saying YOU ARE GORGEOUS. Nahhhh

My dog got dressed in a scottish quilt, coat and a pouch also got. Got a certificate and ermmm please don't laugh...I named him Shaun.

Very expensive though. How much yours caused? Mine including costume was I think about RM90-00 and there was a discount then. Maybe I should take a picture and upload him. He is very nicely dressed, hardly hugged at all.

I would love a scottish costume for my bear as well! I mean, I can imagine how cute that is. Even those British school boy vests and shorts would be cute too.

Shaun? Ok la, technically speaking my bear is named after Blake Lewis also... :P

RM90?? Hmmm... In Singapore terms that probably is much cheaper than mine. I paid S$50 for it, costume and all.

It's really the same shop?

Nah, didn't want a sound. Later I accidently press on it while sleeping I may get a heart attack :P

Basically don't have good childhood memories of toys with voices... Heh...
