~ Gabriel Garcia Marquez

bad beginning to april...

Ok, this probably isn't so bad to me cos although yet another great leader has passed on, he has left a legacy of achievements that have altered world events mostly for the good. What's more, he lived to a ripe old age - Pope John Paul II has passed away at the age of 84. I'm not a Catholic, neither do I believe in the religion, but I guess his achievements as the Catholic leader do transend beyond religion. I don't profess to be an expert on his life and experiences. However, how many religious leaders in the world have the power and charisma, and even wisdom and foresight, to open the world to religious and ethnic tolerance and humanity? While I was watching news coverage on the life of Pope John Paul II, I was touched to see that he once stepped into a mosque and showed great respect for the customs and traditions of the Islamic religion. I dunno when that happened but seeing this footage post-911 is pretty emotional.

On a personal level, a family friend of ours has just gotten himself in a lawsuit with the company he has just resigned from. All began when his good friend decided to set up his own company and asked him to join because of his expertise in the field. Now, however, things have turned sour and his good friend is suing him for defamation amongst other charges, most of which, apparently, are accusations while some were said in a fit of anger and impulsiveness. According to him, he felt betrayed, which I can understand. Whatever it is, the lawyer's letter has arrived. Sigh... Hope things go well for him...

Our 'baby' Ginger has fallen ill. Poor fella was shivering the entire day and we had to wrap him in layers of rags to keep him warm. Bad timing cos most vets are either closed on Sundays or work for limited periods of time only. We gave him some bits of Panadol and some milk and he appeared to get slightly better, occassionaly getting out of the rags to do his business in the sand then going back to sleep. But other than that, the kitten was limp and weary the entire day. We're very worried over him cos I heard kittens which fall ill dun bode well. Worse thing is that I have a full day at school tomorrow, no one to take care of him at home. Really really do hope he pulls through...

I pray.
