fulfiling one of pearl's ambition...
I've acted in a number a plays for CLDDS (both in school and as an alumni) and last year, I finally fulfiled one of my dreams of acting lead in one of the plays. What a wonderful feeling that was to be involved in a play that had such a good scriptwriter and director! I felt like I was the luckiest person on earth that time!
So, the acting dream has thus been fulfiled. That leaves one more - to write a script for one of the alumni performances. It's tough cos everyone knows my storytelling ability is near zero. I have the ideas, but putting it into a playwrite is something beyond my abilities. Fortunately this year, I've found someone to collaborate with on a script for next year's Cha Dian (the title of our alumni performance), and that someone is no other than the director of my play from last year, Jimson. Yay!
Yup. U see, I've always had this dream of being able to write a play based on mental health, things like depression or schizophrenia or OCD or PTSD.... U know, to make a story that will dispell misconceptions of mental patients and their problems... Fortunately, I found out by chance that Jimson, being an occupational therapist, also has been toying with such an idea. What's more, he has hands-on experience working with mental patients at the local mental institution so he has a better idea of what life is like for them, compared to my shallow textbook knowledge.
So, we've finally come up with a storyline that frankly, I've very pleased with. It has a nice twist in the end ^^. In fact, we have sold the idea to the committee and from the looks of it, it does seem that they are pretty keen on seeing our completed script. Previously they have received other scripts but apparently they are not too satisfied with them due to reasons ranging from storyline to technical difficulties. So hopefully, the end product will be something they will be satisfied with, though I must admit we are facing some tricky problems with the conceptualization of the details right now. We are also currently rushing to come out with a detailed story for the play - the committee needs it to look for sponsors for the performance. Lots of problems with that, hopefully we can get things straight in time and ideally, of course, that the script gets selected by the end of the day^^.
How exciting! Very daunting, but exciting!
In other news, still fat, appetite has gone back to normal. Haven't dared weigh myself yet but it doesn't look good, frankly.
Why??? Why????????
