I gonna admit this - I am looking forward to Elizabethtown.
Well, partly cos it's Orlando Bloom in his first modern drama, and also becuase I'm a sucker for movie themes like this. It just began its run in the States and reviews are pretty mixed, like those regarding the accents. Most felt Bloom did just an okay job with the American accent and as leading man in Cameron Crowe's movie, thou many had lots of complaints about Kristen Dunst's bad southern accent and not-as-good-as-usual acting. Perhaps I can't blame her, I didn't like her chacater from the trailer already. As for the storyline, like most Crowe movies, apparently there isn't a very clear plot. Basically, the critical ones saw that as a fatal flaw in the movie, while those who loved it said that that was precisely the essence of the movie - it's not the plot, but the moments that grow on you.
Whatever it is, hopefully it doesn't turn into a chick flick!!!
Of course, we'd have to watch it to really decide for ourselves, don't we? Maybe will tell you my views on it if I ever get a chance to watch it.
Anyway, I become a regular visitor to the Elizabethtown official website only cos of the great music and songs which you can hear online over there. In fact, according to Crowe himself, music and songs play a very big part in story-telling in this movie. Obviously I won't know if it worked out as Crowe had intended to. But alone, the tracks are beautiful. Very folksy, accoustic feel to all the tracks, which includes instrumental and popular songs which are less well-known but still good. Wonderful wonderful listening pleasure. Only irritating aspect is the occassional streaming problems, but thankfully so far it doesn't happen too often.
Go take a look and listen for yourself! Just leave the page up and turn on the speakers.

Hello stranger! I do a mean Southern accent, if you know what I mean.
I wanna watch Lan Yu which they are finally showing in theatres in Singapore!! But sigh... don't think I can find the time. I've finally completed my Early Language Development essay and I'm down with 2 more essays (Developmental Processes and Issues in Research and Testing) plus one MCQ test, immediately after which it's time to prepare for the exams which will start on 19 Nov and end 1 Dec.
And after that, I'll be off to Hong Kong for 4 days (^^)v!!!!!! Lalalalalalala....
I've also planned to rent the remaining 9 episodes of Yummy Yummy which I stopped doing after I got busy. After hearing the atrocious dubbing on S'pore TV (really, eveyone's complaining, even on 8 Days), I think I'd rather not wait for TV to show those 9 episodes like I originally intended to.
Haha see la, always thinking of the (good parts of) holidays when exams have barely started. Bad Pearl, bad Pearl. Stop thinking!!!
Focus.... Focus...
