~ Gabriel Garcia Marquez

election fever

I'm sure those of you living in sunny Singapore would have known that the general elections are coming up. And I'm sure that you have, at the same time, heard about a certain incident that happened between the lightning and the hammer that is as heated as the weather over here.

I just love a good spoof. Check out what the great Mr Brown has to say about the whole fiasco!

Right-click and choose "Save As" on the file "the mr brown show1 May 2006: the persistantly non-political podcast no. 6". Or you could simply click on the link and listen to it online. Hilarious, I tell ya!

Pearl, I downloaded it and I still don't get it. Maybe I am not familiar with that real incident which the spoof is based on. The only thing I got is that guy is so thick headed, people already apologised and apologies must also explain.

Care to explain what's so funny about it?

basically, it was revealed that one candidate from the opposition had failed to submit a form during his registration. hence, the other party jumped on the incident and harped on it, to the point where many singaporeans feel it mirrors that ba chor mee incident.

There're other links on the pages for the coverage.

And I don't have to vote cos there's no contest in my area :)

No contest?? No opposition at all? I saw the news that first time so many opposition this year but none for your area? Scary isn't it?

Aiyah that one small matter. I think our Mps are even worse. Calling divorcees horny then wayyy back suggesting women got raped because women deserved it by the way we dress, etc etc etc. Stupid people.

I was on Wikipedia reading about Lee Hsien Loong. I was looking for changes that affected Singaporeans and was quite impressed by some of the small changes he made. One was the change from a 5.5 days working week to 5. Not bad since now some Singaporeans can sleep in for 2 full days on weekends. I never did understand that extra half day. (Funn Lim: Does Malaysia work 5.5 or 5 days?) The 2 month paid maternity leave and support for the poor are good also. Many more not mentioned.

My depends. Most now is 5 day work but civil service is twice a month saturday must work. Banks made it very difficult for us all by 5 day work which is really so troublesome.
