the place known as crap

If there's one place in Singapore that's full of crappy talk, it's gotta be Sim Lim Plaza.

I'm looking to investing in a camcorder and have set my eyes on a JVC model. The only reason why I sought my way to Sim Lim is because bargaining is possible and usually the shops are able to sell these to you at a much cheaper prices.

The downside, of course, is to endure crappy sales talk by obnoxious Ah Bengs both young and old.

What kind of crap? Hmmm... like... "oh, this 20GB camcorder is a more improved version than the 30GB one". When I asked improved in what way, he mumbled, "the light lor... the light is better. Of course improved is always better la. Because they learn from their past mistake and make a better one. So this one is better". Right, thanks for the information. Very useful indeed.

Then another shop attempted to sell another brand to me by showing me how good the image was as compared to the JVC one I wanted. He plugged the camcorder to the TV and it showed crystal clear image. Then he plugged the JVC one and the TV showed an amazingly blurred image. So JVC is worse, right? But if it's the camcorder problem, what would the display number on screen be blurred as well? He said, "Nevermind about that. You look at the details ah..."

Ohhhhh.... Crap.... I can tolerate pushy sales people as long as they are honest and objective in the selling of their products. But crappy salesmen. Thanks a lot. Next please!

Obviously I went home empty-handed today. Not because I was confused over which one to buy. I still want my JVC camcorder. But I was so bloody tired by all this crap.

Next time I go, I'll zoom into one shop, state my price, pay and go.
