~ Gabriel Garcia Marquez

gems from the 1980s - 1990s

One of my AJC seniors who is now my cast member turned DJ for us last night over the MSN, and being around the same age, he played a number of 1980s to early 1990s songs, especially songs by the Little Tigers (which was an inside joke so we forced him to play some :P). That night really was a night of nostalgia - brought me back to the time when I was in primary school and leading a carefree life. Sigh..

Anyway, that inspired me to search for some old MVs and here's what I found!

"Sad Juliet" (Bei Shang Ju Li Ye) by Annie Yi Neng Jing

"Green Apple Garden" (Qing Ping Guo Le Yuan) by Little Tigers

The song that made Jacky Cheung famous - "Kiss Goodbye" (Wen Bie)

And this really nice piece called "It Will Be a Better Day Tomorrow" (Ming Tian Hui Geng Hao) by various Taiwanese singers. Now this one is a must watch! Beautiful beautiful song sung by singers of that era who really had the voice. Never fails to give me goosebumps everytime I hear it cos it simply so touching...

Definitely must watch!

those were the days eh pearl?

I remember hearing Qiong Yau's series themes and that kinda flooded me with memories of my youth and how I chased those series eventhough I hated them

Do you remember the song by the group with sounds like Ukelele with the song title Sorry? Something like that. Terry lin was the singer. I think he was called terry. Anyway wonderful voice, great music. Nowadays chinese music aren't that memorable anymore. Whenever I hear Sam Hui's songs, it would bring back memories of great lyrics.

Not sure which song by Ukelele you're talking about but I think it must be their really famous song which title is at the tip of my tongue but I can't remember. Yes, they had great singers and songwriters at that time, and it's very true that Chinese songs nowadays just don't evoke that same kind of emotions. In fact, I would still choke at some really touching old Chinese songs, but none of the new songs would even give me goosebumps.
