new blogger?
There's a new blogger which requires me to sign in with my Gmail account? What da?
What have I been up to lately. Nothing much... except work, Seo Dong Yo, eating and getting fat.
Let's talk about something enjoyable... Something like Seo Dong Yo... :P
Been listening to the Seo Dong Yo soundtrack which I purchased from Yesasia and have been loving it to bits! It contains very well orchestrated instrumental and vocal pieces with the right atmosphere. Beautiful!
Listen to the OST here!
And of course, Seo Dong Yo will be ending its run soon and I'm still smitten by Jo Hyun Jae thou it's just incredible how thin he has become as the show went on! Great acting, by the way, I never knew Andrea from Love Letter could elude such charm and charisma when commanding his troops, when addressing the nobles, or even in his interactions with his friends. Mum and Dad are totally hooked onto it now and never fail to miss one episode. In fact, if you ask my Mum, she repeat this over and over again, "the plot is so engaging and so intricately woven!" But apart from the wonderful plot, I think I'm actually admiring the love between Seo Dong (Jang) and Princess Sonhwa. I mean, this is love that withstood the test of time, when they were forced apart for years, when they faced hardships, when they faced uncertainty... I know many dramas try to portray that too but somehow this one manages to transcend the normal love story and completely draw audiences into the whole experience.
And I couldn't help but make comparisons between Seo Dong Yo and the other HK-TVB period dramas I have seen. Many of these HK dramas concentrate on love, and in the love story there is bound to be betrayal, misunderstandings, and some plain silly plot of how they meet or how they split, which usually takes over the main plot towards the 2nd half of the serial which makes the serial meaningless. Seo Dong Yo, on the other hand, does not concentrate on the love plot. Of course the Jang-Sonhwa love is one of the prominant features of the serial, but the most important thing is that it never steers too far away from the main plot of Jang's journey to royalty. The love plot only serves to compliment the story in a way that makes the whole journey worthwhile.
Just how on earth can a baby-faced actor play the king of Korea? Watch the serial to see for yourself :)
Whatever it is, if you're looking for a nice Korean drama, I highly recommend this one! Even Dae Jang Guem failed to keep my attention for more than 5 episodes in a row (I only watched it on and off)! But of course, u may argue that it is because of a certain lead actor and hey, I won't deny that too... :P
Work's piling up too, with the camp just over and my trainees giving me issues such as depression, suicide attempt, aggression at home, anger issues, lack of motivation issues, inappropriate public behaviour, inappropriate sexual behaviour.... Goodness... And with 3 centres on hand now (I'm covering up for another colleague who went on long leave), plus other projects, I'm finding it hard to even keep up with my case recordings! Die...
Mum and Dad are going on a Russian tour. As much as I would love to follow, I dun think I wanna use up so much leave this year. And yah, money issues too lah. Sigh...
Ok, wanna sleep... Been falling asleep a lot lately.... :(
