model for a day
My cousin's friend was doing her make-up examination. Hence, she sought the help of my cousin to be her model for the day to do 2 make-overs for her exam - one bridal make-over and another creative make-over. The problem lay in the bridal dress, which my cousin couldn't find. Remembering that I had bought a white gown for her wedding as a bridesmaid, she asked if I would help instead.
I said yes after some persuasion, cos it sounded like tough work but hey, it sounded like fun. So off I went, and today I underwent 2 'extreme' make-overs.
To tell the truth, it was an extremely draining event. It was tiring for me, what more for my 'make-up artist' who had to stand most of the time and was pregnant as well! Exhausting. We took almost 2 hours with the hair and make-up for the bridal one, then another 2 hours for the creative one, where she had drawn a bird on my left face (with my left eye as the bird's head) and styled my hair until it resembled a bird's nest from the back, with a bunch of purple feathers to top it up. Frankly, although it looked weird at first, I fell in love with the look by the end of it. When everyone gathered to take photos, I got to see what the other students had done and goodness, the designs some came up with! Extravagance is what you describe them! There was a belly-dancer, a snake-charmer, a kimono-clad anime-inspired girl, fairy etc... Yet due to some miscommunication, I had worn a plain black T-shirt with blue jeans...
I had to endure washing off the heavy make-up twice within 4 hours, and I do feel like a layer of my face has been washed off. Doing some repair work with a vitamin E cream so I hope the damage is not great. And the hair!!! Because of the 'nest' she had messed up my hair to such a state that washing it was almost like pulling out my hair strand by strand! Fortunately she taught me to apply conditioner before I shampoo. Must have used up 1/3 bottle of my conditioner to untangle my hair.
But really, it was a fun experience, and I got to see first hand how a make-up examination went! My cousin's friend really has some good skills which I find are quite superior compared to the others who were in the same make-up area as me. I think she'll go far in this area.
In fact, I received news later that day that she had passed the exam! So happy for her :)
I don't think I'm going to post the pictures cos I suppose these are her personal creations and it probably is not nice to put this up for public viewing. So, use your imagination lar...
