~ Gabriel Garcia Marquez

where have i been?

Just where have I been lately? Well, quite a few things happened within this short span of less than week.

Firstly, through 2 rounds of voting by the committee, the script that Jimson and I have been writing has officially been chosen to be put up in next years CLDDS alumni production! Yeah! It was decided at a meeting on Saturday, where the committee heard some last minute 'selling' of our scripts to them. As Jimson couldn't be there, I became the spokesperson (with a slight fever, sore throat and flu). Weird thing cos during the informal presentation I was all full of zest and so eager to tell them how unique our script was and all. But when they announced the result, I was pretty dazed. All of a sudden I realized that this isn't an experiment anymore, as was the attitude I held towards coming up with the script in the first place. It's a reality now. And it's stressful. Just imagine, the entire production depends on this script! If it turns out bad, we have a lot to answer to.

But for now, must look at the bright side of things! For my part at least, I'm sure I've watched and been in enough plays and stuff to come up with a script that's doesn't have the crappy lines and cliche storylines that always puts me off =P.

Secondly, thanks to YC, I've gotten a one-week temp job at her company as admin assistant. So been rather tired by the time I get home, which kinda explains my MIA status online or offline these few days.

Thirdly, while all this was happening, 2 big world news happened:

1) London was chosen to host the 2012 Oylmpics.

2) London suffered terrorist bombings which shook the transport system and, last I heard, left 55 dead and1000s more injured, possibly scarred for life, both physically and emotionally.

What should I say about all this? Everytime such a thing happens, I lose hope for mankind. While nature gave us the capacity to think and imagine to survive, some actually choose to use it for destruction. We gave ourselves ideologies, twisted them, made ourselves believe that we can play God, that we are unique and that others have no right to live because we think that they belittle our own existence.

Yes, that's what terrorists are - pathetic. Pathetic beings.
